An ode to a failing relationship...

‘Counting Empties’ builds on themes of heartbreak and isolation laid out in their previous single ‘Indigo’, as the band reflect on “how having a difficult relationship with alcohol can hinder romantic and personal relationships.

A battle with your own mind to do better and a vulnerability of asking someone patience and forgiveness, although you may not feel you deserve it”.

Jax Jones Social Media

From July 22nd 2021 to November 27th 2021 I worked with Jax Jones and the Loving Alliance management team to kick start Jax's social media content creation and growth.

Prior to this engagement Jax Jones had experience zero growth for 2 years and was even in a decline, losing followers daily.  Although Jax Jones is a household name his social platforms were not moving in positive path. I was brought in to schedule, film, edit and take responsibility for community engagement.

Within' 30 days I was able to turn his instagram account from a deficit into a growing and vibrant platform reaching 1.4% growth, with 733k accounts reached in the same time frame too.

Through my content strategy and working directly with Jax Jones I created many pieces of content which reach above and beyond expected KPI's. Including some pieces of content reach over 100k views! I was able to take Instagram posts from doing 20 - 50 comments up to 300 - 500 comments!

For this project I handled it from concept to execution which includes but is not limited to location scouting, producing, filming, editing, colour grade, and posted on to YouTube.

This video was commissioned by a new live streaming platform that wanted to showcase London and I felt like we achieved this. At the time of writing this the video has yielded half a million views!

A woman goes on a journey of escape and self-discovery, in Sebastian Whyte's powerful visual for Ben Marc. 

The video for Breathe follows the main character - played by Sherelle Johnson - as she travels from the city to the countryside and back. Filmed in London and South East England, this was initially inspired by the road movie genre and it works both as an engaging short film and a music video, anchored by strong performances from its cast.

"Originally, the plan was to have a couple on the run as the main focus," says Sebastian Whyte. "However various constraints and actors dropping out meant that we had to tweak the narrative. Then I became fascinated with the idea of a single female protagonist, who is fragile and vulnerable, yet strong, single-minded and independent.

"In a strange way, her semi-meditative journey of discovery mirrors the evolution of the film's narrative. And throughout the driving force is Ben's beautifully epic soundtrack."

North Kingsley is the new musical endeavor led by System of a Down's legendary bassist, Shavo Odadjian. 

Boulder Media House was commissioned to produce two music videos for the band's new Volume 2 album, for songs "False Idols" and "Rifle In Thought". Both videos were remotely pre-produced and edited in Denver, Colorado with production and filming in Los Angles with a crew of about 15. Boulder Media House partners Tori Soper, Bailey Miclette, and Riley Clinton flew to Los Angles as key crew members: Producer, Director of Photography, 1st AC for both music videos. Shot on RED.

The Funk Hunters Live at Red Rocks 2017

Boulder Media House was commissioned to provide on-site crew and post-production for an aftermovie of The Funk Hunters performance at Red Rocks in 2019.

GRiZ - Rainbow Brain The Movie

Rainbow Brain was funky EDM producer, GRiZ's, 2021 highlight. An incredible album featuring collaborators such as Cherub, Big Wild, powerful female vocals from Chrishira Perrier, and more. 

A massive production with a total crew of over 25, Rainbow Brain The Movie was produced over four days at the Mission Ballroom in Denver, Colorado. Boulder Media House was contracted to lead the pre-production and production on set. Boulder Media House partners Tori Soper and Bailey Miclette took the lead as Producer and Director of Photography to bring this project to life. A complex production that included a 20 foot jib crane, an FPV pilot, and multiple sets split amongst multiple songs, this was a project for the books.

BTS video was produced by Frankie Zarontonello, it has been included to provide more insight into the production. Boulder Media House DID NOT produce the BTS video.

High Ground Festival 2021 Aftermovie - Denver, Colorado

High Ground had its debut event over the summer of 2021, offering a lineup of melodic house artists and a curated list of Colorado EDM performances. Hosted at the beautiful Levitt Pavillion in Denver, Colorado, it drew a respectable first year crowd through its art activations, lineup, and open outdoor venue. Boulder Media House was contracted to produce the aftermovie and manage the press and media credentials. Highlight artists included Kasbo, Snakehips, and Louis Futon, and Chet Porter.

Broken Signal Livestream

Broken Signal was a livestream event produced and executed by Boulder Media House in our warehouse production space. With a talented lineup of local Denver EDM artists, production included a 20 foot jib, 6 camera angles, live switching and encoding, alpha matte graphics broadcasted live, and an FPV pilot.

The lineup included highlight artists such as Subtact and Covex.

Mt. Joy - Live at Red Rocks 2021

Boulder Media House was contracted to provide pre-production, on-site crew, and post-production services for indie-folk band, Mt. Joy, as their tour stopped at the incredible Red Rocks Amphitheater a mere 20 minutes from the BMH studio.

Final deliverables included a social media targeted aftermovie, multiple full length live performance music videos, and a social media announcement post for the sale of the Live at Red Rocks album. Shot on RED.

Tyga's Mamacita of the Dead 2019

Tyga's Mamacita of the Dead was a two day Halloween event hosted by rap star Tyga in the Hollywood Hills. Part haunted house, part exclusive party, Tyga's Mamacita of the Dead was one of the most extravagant celebrity party events in the second half of 2019.

Boulder Media House was commissioned and flown out to Los Angeles to provide daily recaps of the event within 24 hours as well as generate social content to promote the event on Tyga's personal social channels as well as on the event-dedicated account.

Family Business Festival 2019 Aftermovie

Family Business Fest was a first of its kind, one-day festival in the legendary Bomb Factory in downtown Dallas, Texas. In partnership with AEG Presents, the lineup of hip-hop and rap artists included Smokepurpp, Trippie Redd, Chxpo, and Young Thug and more. 

Boulder Media House was contracted to provide aftermovie coverage and social media content. This project was executed by a camera team of 6, two photographers (one film and one digital), and an on-site editor.

Mayer Hawthorne - "Rare Changes" Music Video

Groove focused musician Mayer Hawthorne's newest project "Rare Changes" is a delight of an album. The track that shares the same name as the album has a music video led by LA based Director and Choreographer Madi Shelpuk. Filmed in a dive bar in Downtown Denver over the course of a 12 hour night, Boulder Media House partner and Director of Photography, Bailey Miclette, worked with a crew of about 12 to bring Hawthorne's musical vision to life.

BTS of WAAX's latest Music Video

WAAX is one of Australia's prominent bands fronted by Marie 'Maz' DeVita, a female lead that has been an integral part of the Australian music scene for almost a decade. After a huge 2018/19 WAAX took 2020 to take the backseat and work on a new record working with Bernard Fanning from Powderfinger. After a rough 2020 for the music industry, WAAX hit the ground running with the lead single of their latest record 'Most Hated Girl' 

I was reached out by the directors of the Music video 'Onyx Productions' to shoot behind the scenes videos on set, as well as produce interviews after the shoot and create a BTS video. My role was to document the day, capture some candid moments on set and show off the skills of the directors & camera operators. 

The music video captured Australia's music media outlets and was featured in multiple articles.

Digital campaign for Maple Glider's album To Enjoy Is The Only Thing

We were commissioned by Partisan Records to create a range of adverts for the release of To Enjoy Is The Only Thing- the wonderful folk-infused debut album from Maple Glider.

We created video adverts for each single release and were commissioned to produce an advert for the vinyl release.

In keeping with the music videos, the vinyl advert's art direction took on a 70s feel- full of warmth, textures and of course, plants. All filming undertaken by Industrious Dark, with the exception of the artist shots, which were taken from the video As Tradition.

We also produced a motion album for the artwork to be displayed on Apple Music, providing a subtle yet beautiful motion effect.

Welcome to Komatsu live performance

Anabel’s “Midnight Rapture” depicts a late night rendezvous edging towards euphoria as she sings “Said don’t take me home/Take me to a place you’ve never gone/Where we can lose ourselves till dawn” set to a sensuous dancefloor beat alongside the bells and guitar riffs taken from the Blondie original.

blink-182's Mark Hoppus and Matt Skiba talked us through the creation of their new album 'NINE' including how they wrote the songs 'Darkside', 'I Really Wish I Hated You' and 'On Some Emo Shit'. Plus, they look back on the huge 'Enema Of The State' 20th anniversary tour they played earlier this summer alongside Lil' Wayne and Neck Deep and how they ended up with special guests at their LA show including All Time Low's Alex Gaskarth and Twenty One Pilots' Josh Dun. Finally, we hear about their future plans including a UK tour and some potential new music from Simple Creatures and Alkaline Trio.

Papi Shiitake - Enjoy the View (Official Video)

In summer 2020, I was called upon to be the DP/colorist/designer with Brooklyn indie rocker Papi Shiitake for his first single "Enjoy the View" on his new label, Trash Casual. Over the course of one long day in Bushwick, we filmed a story of an unemployed puppet and his partner in crime as they tried every idea under the sun to pay the rent. The result was a hilarious indie lo-fi music video classic, which premiered on MTV's Brand Spankin' New in October 2020, and stayed there well into the holiday season.

LoudMadLoud - Leave the House (Official Video)

Developed in collaboration with New York City Dance artists LoudMadLoud (FKA The Saturators), the goal was to create a surreal vaporwave feel in a virtual reality simulation. Diffused lights and in=depth color grading were used to create a soft, dreamy look in a place somewhere between dreams and reality where Silky and Red "leave the world behind."

In 2018, i was asked to tour with Denzel Curry and Asap Ferg in the US and Canada. As the tour ended, i headed to LA with Denzel to document the writing process of his Album "TA13OO". For his album tour, he flew me in again to be on his world tour. This is a little recap from that time.

Had a mighty fine good time chopping this one together. With a mixture of 16mm, 2D animation, projection, stop motion scanning, painting... god knows!

Anyway the look of the video was evidently influenced by the intro sequences from the early Bond’s and Hitchcock classics, donned by Maurice Binder and Saul Bass. The bold and striking graphics used in these intros felt perfect with the cool loungey soundscape of “GO”.

Katy Hurt - Revved Up

Katy wanted to make an heist video for her song that in involved driving down to the desert in Spain...so that is exactly what we did.

We had a basic storyboard but as we had zero chance to scout any of the locations beforehand, a lot of the video was shot on the fly using locations we found and just trying different things to see what worked. The advantage was I was editing on the go, so was able to put parts of the video together and see what was missing and what was need to make it work.

Using footage that the Artists sent me from the US, I made a series of promotional videos for his upcoming release across all socials.

We were aksed to create a performance video for the band Broken Bricks with Yayoi Kusama's: Infinity Mirror Rooms as our inspiration.

We built two mirrored walls and then bounced various lights and lazers off of them and onto the band. We were able to reposition the mirrors as we liked to create different effects and too adjust for singles or group shots.

We also used various prisms and kaleidoscope filters on the lenses to create the trippy in-camera effects you can see throughout the video. This video was all shot on Blackmagic at 6K.

All I Really Want

We were asked to create a music for video for the singer Luke Richards brand new track.

He wanted a performance video mixed with a bit of narrative. After discussing various ideas with Luke and his management we settled on a concept around Luke and his bandmates cooking and preparing a fancy romantic dinner for his girlfriend.

We wanted the video to feel intimate and romantic but also have light hearted and comic moments of lads being lads.

This video was shot on a Blackmagic 6K, Video8 and Super 8. At Daisy Chain we are big fans of mixed media and intertwining different styles together. We very content with the final finish of this piece.

Liam Dee: Branding, Video Production & Web Project

Liam Dee is a DJ and house music producer. Following a signing to a US record label, Liam needed some branding and promotional material. Turning to Divine Aesthetic for creative direction, I worked with Liam to develop a brand identity and a concept for the promotional material. Working with photographers, videographers, makeup artists and location owners sourced and co-ordinated by Divine Aesthetic, the creative vision was realised. Here's a little peep at the result.

No Joke

For some time, we had been wanting to film a music video that centred around a full kit band/performance in moving car. Pengshui approached us for a music video, and we thought they would be the perfect fit for this concept, which they also agreed with. For filming we attached a Sony A7S2 onto the car, we then set the shots as Pengshui drove around the streets of London. To give the video some depth we captured the performance at multiple angles and included some night shots.

This upload is our directors cut, which we developed from the initial edit (which wasn’t by us) we transformed this to create this multi-screen, faster paced edit which feels more fitting. The final outcome was simple, effective and the band loved it!

Working again with Polo on a minimal danmce piece but using different editing techniques to bring the performance to life but still work with the atmospheric nature of the song.

We shot a one take live video for the band in a secret studio in Hackney. Using 3 cameras and some colourful lighting to capture every moment.

Paddy - Gone 2 Soon

The Manchester based electronic artist's debut music video.

As with most of the music video’s we produce, the concept was created with the track at the absolute centre. We felt the characteristics of ‘Gone 2 Soon’ imbued a sense of nostalgia alongside a feeling of ‘never-ending-ness’.  These became the starting points for conceptualisation of the video. 

The concept explored a documentation of an authentic night on the town among long-time friends. Capturing everything from their long-awaited meet up, pre-drinking, bar hopping, clubbing, morning after fry-up and eventual separation. With the artist excited about our proposal, and with ample pre-production, we headed down to London for the shoot.

Shot in North London in the space of 24 hours, the camera follows the group of friends down the rabbit hole of their long awaited night out. Little to no direction was given by the crew, who simply followed and captured - leading to a truly authentic visual experience.

A creative choice was made to use early 2000s digital cameras, supporting the sense of realism we were looking to achieve. Additionally the sense of nostalgia created by the song is echo’d here in the visual style.

‘Gone 2 Soon’ was released alongside the video in 2020 on Chequered Wax records.

Apocalypse

In the midst of all these lockdowns, the world at times has felt a little apocalyptic, these feelings as well as the song’s title actually inspired our concept for singer songwriter IZZA’s Apocalypse video. The original idea was to present IZZA as a lone survivor, the last human alive at the end of the world. Initially we wanted a green screen up behind her as she sang to show what this ‘doomsday’ life looked like, however, after our first edit we felt this alone didn’t work. Developing on our first edit we chose to incorporate a studio performance and some empty London performance shots, whilst altering the green screen to become over the top explosions that added to the end of the world vibe.

The video was shot on a video 8 camera, super 8 and a Blackmagic 6K camera. At Daisy Chain we are big fans of mixed media and intertwining different styles together. We very content with the final finish of this piece.

Question Time

Earlier this year I was thrilled to be asked to produce a music-video to accompany ‘Question Time’, a song from the new album ‘While You Still Can’ by Vinny Peculiar.

Question Time is a story song of sorts, a missing politician, the songs narrator under suspicion. Glastonbury performer Katherine Ashworth played the part of a politician appearing on Question Time with impressive red finger nails.

We shot the piece over just two days!
