Degene Die Gaat
In 2017, musician and presenter Dominique Rijpma van Hulst, under her stage name Do started to work on her first completely Dutch-language album. She traveled to a remote location in Dijon, France to write new songs while living in a castle farm with nine songwriters where she tried to capture every emotion, every fight and every laugh that happened in her world over the last 15 years.
I was asked to direct a music video for one of these very intimate acoustic versions. Degene Die Gaat, a composition reimagined for three performers, for which Do invited Mathieu and Guillaume Engels, the Flemish brothers and musical duo from Antwerp who perform under their first names Mathieu & Guillaume.
To capture the intensity of the song and the trio’s captivating performance on video, we created an intimate studio setting where we filmed this music video in nothing more but a single take.
