    Artist Visuals #01 — Madara @echi55555_djmadara
    As part of an ongoing project exploring how visual identity can reflect sonic character, I’m collaborating with independent artists to translate their sound into cover artwork and promotional visuals.

    Madara (Syuichi Echigo) is a Tokyo-based DJ and producer originally from Osaka, known for reinterpreting Japanese folk traditions (min'yō) into contemporary dance music. A resident of @whitespacelab , his sets weave together tribal textures, world influences, and underground club aesthetics.

    This artwork channels that hybrid energy—ritualistic, rhythmic, and raw—using a process that blends AI image generation with custom composition, color, and typographic treatment.

    HIP DOZER COMPILATION VOL.IV

    Hip Dozer is a french label
    aspiring to represent a scene 
    often reducted to the term lo-fi.

    We achieved this by distancing 
    the label from the visual stereotypes of the genre, removing typical imagery in favor of a bold, 
    custom typographic system.

    The visual borrows from many eras 
    rearranging them the way a producer digging through records and reinterpreting samples. The inside 
    of the record sleeve compares this process 
    to a form of modern archaeology

    B2DT Sharingan Fitted Caps

    The 02DATRAP® Sharingan Fitted Caps were designed as a tribute to the legendary Lake Elsinore Storm Caps, which were synonymous with the UK grime scene during the early 2000s. This concept was inspired by the iconic Sharingan sound effect from the Naruto anime franchise, which is used by BACK2DATRAP producer Bally as his producer tag throughout Lancey’s mixtape.

    Mind Maps 5 CD album artwork

    FSOLdigital presents Mind Maps 5
     

    Artwork for a CD in an eight panel uncoated card digipak case and screen printed merchandise for part five of the annual Yage mix albums jointly released by Touched Music and FSOLdigital.

    Like last year's Mind Maps 4, the background is based on just one satellite image — this time Pinacate National Park in Mexico from USGS on Unsplash. The wonderful natural colours go so well with the music, the yellows and dusky purple emphasising the acid sounds and darkness within the mix. 

    The angled, modern building on the front cover evokes the mysticism of the Central American pyramids which ties into the satellite imagery location. A bitmap image of a mountain is a recurring theme throughout the artwork and adds texture and interest. The idea of map grid references inspired a graph showing track durations and the way the mix fits together. Squares indicate a Yage remix and circles show FSOL/Yage/Humanoid tracks.

    As with merchandise for the previous Mind Maps albums, the designs are not just a graphic from the album artwork. The t-shirt and hoodie were available for a limited time and hand screen printed to order by Exalt T-shirts.

    The Hara - Survival Mode

    The full creative campaign for The Hara's debut album, 'Survival Mode.' We oversaw full creative direction, creating a 6 music video visual campaign with accompanying album artwork, merchandising and 12 months of social media assets and strategy. This extended into live shows where we provided on-stage visuals for 40 shows in the UK, Europe and USA. We also captured the majority of the live shows to aid with tour promotion, ticket sales and tour-related social media strategy. 

    The album debuted at #3 in the UK Rock and Metal album chart.

    Artwork for Mind Maps 3 (FSOL/Touched Music)

    CD album artwork and screen printed merchandise designs for part three of The Future Sound of London mix albums for Touched Music.

    Having established the design concept and art direction with the first Mind Maps, then refining the design language and expanding the custom typography for Mind Maps 2, volume three was really about listening to the mix, digging deeper into the vast satellite image library of United States Geological Survey and giving Mind Maps 3 it's own visual identity in the series.

    The imagery and design choices are heavily influenced by listening to the mix as I worked, making it a bit more colourful and detailed than MM2. I designed a new circular Mind Maps graphic to replace the brain image from Mind Maps 2 on the third panel — and, being circular, naturally rotates the design on to the vertical axis of the inner panels which feature the artists (the first time on a Mind Maps album).

    I also designed a two colour t-shirt using the circular Mind Maps typography from the inner panel. They were hand screen printed in a range of bright colours to compliment the album artwork.

    Artwork for vinyl/CD for Morphology — Twelve (FireScope Records)

    Artwork for two compilations — Twelve 1 and Twelve 2, released on CD (with foil print box) and vinyl for FireScope Records.

    The concept is 12 tracks from 12"s from the first 12 years of Morphology, it was supposed to come out in the 12th month of their 12th year but due to vinyl pressing delays was late. The design is all based around the number 12… the title (Morphology12) is 12 characters, place the sleeves of 1 and 2 next to each other to make a 12 and on the covers the big numerals are made of 12 lines.

    The albums were also released on CD and were available exclusively from FireScope Records. They both fit in a white matchbox style case (with holographic foil print) that came with Twelve 1. Each album came on two vinyl-effect black CDs, replicating the track listing of the vinyl, and are housed in card wallets.

    CD artwork/design for Found Sound 3 (Touched Music)

    Artwork for part three of the 2CD compilation albums for Touched Music housed in a matt finish DVD size digipak case.

    The minimal design of the first two Found Sound albums continues: the first Found Sound artwork is monochrome, Found Sound 2 is two colour, so I made FS3 three colour. The sonar inspired cover typography this time is based on disruptions to a circular grid of dots.

    This album is a love letter and the artwork speaks of the long distance relationship. Elements of the two cities are interwoven with a Korg Minilogue (used in the making of the music) and on the reverse with the typography. Vinyl and CD have different designs.
