  • El Perro - Call Me When You're Home & Let Me Think That Again (Full Film)

Fans of the surreal and stylistic will appreciate this intriguing pair of promos for El Perro. Taken together, 'Call Me When You're Home' and 'Let Me Think That Again' form a cryptic tale of love, murder, and obligation - set against a desolate desert backdrop.

The film opens with a pair of characters fleeing a wedding, the woman passing the ring to her accomplice and celebrating her freedom in the back of the car. It appears they're dumping a body once they arrive in the wilderness, but a fiery fate for the mysterious bag instead reveals it's full of other wedding rings.

There are hints of magical realism and surreal imagery throughout the piece, with the second promo seeing the man read his fortune from a cookie before summoning a sword from thin air and asking his partner to kill him. She bleeds molten metal as she refuses to go through with the act, keeping them both suspended in their arcane limbo.

Esoteric and thought-provoking, it's as aesthetically pleasing to watch as it is narratively challenging. Patient viewers will enjoy sitting back to let the desert wash over them, picking up hints about the duo's supernatural activities along the way.

    Amore (Music Video Edit)

The music video for Amore, has a captivating and moody visual narrative that perfectly complements the song's haunting and melancholic tone. Despite being created entirely with stock footage, the video is cinematic and visually stunning, with each clip seamlessly pieced together to create a cohesive and engaging visual story.

The video has shots of the cityscape at night, with the camera panning across the glittering skylines. We also see a series of close-up shots of hands, face, and eyes that convey a sense of longing and emotional intensity. These shots are juxtaposed with footage of the city at night, with the camera focusing on deserted streets, empty parks, and abandoned buildings, adding to the song's overall moodiness.

As the song progresses, the video introduces footage of a couple in intimate moments, with close-ups of their hands intertwined and their faces coming together. The footage is edited in a way that creates a sense of intimacy and emotional connection, drawing the viewer into the couple's passionate love story. The cityscape footage continues to play in the background, adding to the overall moodiness of the video. The footage is edited in a way that creates a sense of closure and resolution, with the moody undertones of the video giving way to a sense of hopefulness and possibility.

Creating a music video that seamlessly blends individual clips and footage together to tell a cohesive visual story that resonates with the song requires a high level of skill and expertise as a video editor. To achieve this level of artistic and technical excellence, I have demonstrated several critical skills and attributes.

Firstly, I have an excellent eye for detail and I am able to understand how different elements of the footage can be combined to create a visually striking and emotionally engaging narrative. This requires an innate sense of creativity and a willingness to experiment with different approaches and techniques.

Secondly, I possess advanced technical skills, including the ability to use a range of video editing software and tools. I am familiar with the various technical aspects of editing, such as cutting, trimming, and sequencing footage, as well as using various effects, transitions, and color grading techniques.

Thirdly, I master pacing and timing, as the timing and rhythm of the visuals need to match the tempo and rhythm of the song. Being a music producer I have a deep understanding of musical structure and an ability to synchronize the visuals with the music's beats and mood.

Fourthly, I have excellent communication skills, and work closely with the artist or the record label to understand their vision for the video and incorporate their feedback into the final product. I have strong collaboration skills, patience, and the ability to manage expectations and feedback.

Lastly, to achieve the cinematic quality and moody undertones required for a music video like the one described, I have shown that I am able to use stock footage in a way that feels organic and visually compelling. This requires a deep understanding of cinematography, lighting, and composition, as well as the ability to manipulate and transform existing footage to match the desired visual style.

Overall, creating a high-quality music video that seamlessly blends individual clips and footage together to tell a cohesive visual story requires a high level of skill, expertise, and creativity as a video editor. It is a demanding and challenging process, but the results can be truly awe-inspiring and emotionally impactful.

  • Instant Coffee

Client: Asylums / Cool Thing Records

    Date: August 2022

    Role: Editor

'Instant Coffee' is the fourth single from Asylums' fourth album, 'Signs Of Life'. I was brought onboard to edit the video (shot by Andrew Delaney) and introduce a more conceptual level to the classic performance video. With the band, we decided on the concept of TV screens to support the 60s TV show-inspired visuals. I furthered this with a film look to match the warmth of the song and leant into the psychedelia often associated with the decade.

  • Mauritius - (Video Edit)

The music video edit that was done using only handheld footage from a SONY A6500 camera, from a holiday in Mauritius. There was also stock footage drone shots which tells a beautiful love story of a couple in a captivating and romantic way.

The video opens with beautiful landscapes, crystal clear waters, and picturesque beaches. The handheld footage shows the couple enjoying each other's company, laughing, and embracing in different locations, such as the beach, a resort, and the sea.

The pace of the music dictates the speed of the video, with the footage showing the couple engaging in adventurous activities, such as snorkeling, crossing bridges, and exploring the island's lush rainforests.

The handheld footage captures the couple's spontaneous moments and their intimate moments, creating a romantic and emotional tone. The use of drone shots enhances the video's cinematic quality, giving viewers an aerial view of the beautiful Mauritius landscape and the couple's explorations.

The shots are seamlessly integrated into the handheld footage, creating a smooth visual transition between the two. The video shows the couple watching a beautiful sunset on the beach, holding each other's hands, and smiling contentedly, symbolising their love for each other and their connection to the island.

Overall, the music video edit showcases the natural beauty of Mauritius, captures the genuine moments of a couple in love, and tells a compelling story in a visually stunning and emotionally engaging way.

Demand - DJ Juggy Ft. Amar Arshi

As a video editor for this urban music video, I am proud of the final product that has been created. I was able to take footage of the singer from other music videos and seamlessly sync it to the new song, which was no easy feat. Alot of time was spent making sure that the timing was just right and that the visuals complemented the lyrics and the overall vibe of the track.

In addition to the existing footage, I also incorporated amateur footage shot from an iPhone, which added a raw and authentic element to the video. I made sure to balance the amateur footage with some stock footage clips to maintain a professional look and feel.

The result is a music video that oozes feel good energy. The visuals perfectly complement the beats and the rhythm of the song, and the footage is edited in a way that is both visually stunning and coherent. I was able to capture the essence of the song and bring it to life through the visuals.

The biggest challenges that I faced during the editing process was syncing the existing footage to the new song, which as I mentioned before required a lot of precision and attention to detail. I also had to work with footage of varying quality and aspect ratios, which required some creative editing techniques to ensure that everything looked seamless.

Overall, I believe that I was able to overcome these challenges and create a music video I am very proud of. I look forward to working on more projects like this in the near future.
