Ezra and her team kindly gave me so much creative freedom for these three lyric videos for songs from All of Us Flames. For Point Me Toward the Real I jumped at the chance to dig into a big archive of photos going as far back as 2010, old pals and parties in London, Berlin + elsewhere. Lilac and Black was my favourite to work on, repurposing and altering archival newspapers in microfiche style, while Book of Our Names is close to my heart, featuring footage shot with friends around the Scottish countryside I grew up in.

The brief was to create a fun, chaotic, and nostalgic piece that blended '70s glam rock attitude with a digital collage aesthetic, celebrating both the band’s legacy and the spirit of the beautiful game.

Tony Allen, hailed by Brian Eno as “perhaps the greatest drummer who ever lived,” was a pioneer of Afrobeat and a global music icon. Known for his groundbreaking work with Fela Kuti and collaborations with artists such as Damon Albarn, Tony’s rhythmic innovations shaped modern music and continue to inspire musicians worldwide.

WILDERNESS worked with World Circuit Records to create a new animated music video for a remaster of Tony Allen’s classic track “Secret Agent”. We aimed to celebrate his lyrics and capture the energy of Afrobeat through vibrant visuals, bold colours and dynamic motion.

I was asked to create a lyric video for Shane Codd's release of 'Get Out My Head'. 

The brief was to create some graphic assets and use the head graphic from his artwork to make a playful lyric video that encapsulated the song and it's summer vibe.

Weak - Lyric Video

This project began as a lyric video for a well-known EDM producer and although the final version wasn't used, I loved the creative concept so much that I decided to repurpose it.

The track was called "Weak," and the campaign's creative direction used a jaguar to symbolise the antithesis of weakness.

I expanded on this idea by depicting three stages of the jaguar: life, growth, and destruction. These stages are represented by the jaguar running, then becoming still as nature grows over it, and finally being destroyed.

A Concise Alphabet

I’m a fan of the band Soft Machine and I really like typography. Alphabets are pretty cool too, especially when they go backwards. So for this personal project, I selected 26 of my favourite typefaces and animated them in After Effects.

Kid Cudi - LOD (Lyric Video)

It's a pleasure to make work for music you really love. That was the case for this lyric video for Kid Cudi. I also got to work with my friend and artist Dan Crossan who did the words and art. 
This video was made in lockdown so it was up to me and the contents of my house for interesting, abstract backgrounds. I shot with a super macro lens that you attach to the lens of your phone (in my case a Pixel 3). Some of the backgrounds include close ups of my computer screen, interesting art pieces in my house. I also shot myself doing some weird stuff in front of camera on a fisheye lens (also on my phone). So I am in this video, a lot!

I love my job most days but sometimes I get to do things like make videos for some of my all time favourite songs, which makes it even better.

Marvin Gaye's "What's Going On" came out 50 years ago! It still feels relevant. I love this album so much. My favourite thing about it is hearing the transition from the guy who sang Heard it on the Grapevine" (which is also a rad song), to the socially conscious man he is on this album. And how the record label freaked out and thought it would be a disaster.

The animation see's Marvin exploring the scenes he talks about in the lyrics. Civil unrest, the Vietnam War, poverty, the environment. I imagine him actually doing this at the time in 1971, walking around the streets and literally thinking What's Going On?
