Need a lyric video but don't quite know where to begin? How about a little inspiration to get the creative ideas flowing! Neil Whitman

There are so many great examples of lyric videos out there. The beauty of the medium is that lyric videos can lend themselves to any genera of music and any cinematic style.

A couple that stood out for me over the past few years were official lyric video for Katy Perry's Roar and Dua Lipa's Levitating. Both are amazing examples of how simple icons can be used extremely effectively to tell the story in a clean, visually appealing way.

I really love the lyric video for The Chainsmokers & Coldplay's Something Just Like This. I think it stands out amongst other videos around, I enjoy the child superhero perspective concept inspired from the lyrics, and I think that it is an excellent example of how a great lyric video can really engage an audience and spread an artist's music even further.

A very current lyric video I really enjoy is Jason Mraz's latest release Always Looking For You.

I am a little biased towards stop motion animation as this is my one true love, but even so, I think this video is again very unique and special. It certainly stands out amongst the other artists out there and it complements the track itself beautifully.

It is my strong opinion that the best lyric videos complement the track and give the story behind the lyrics another medium to explore.

This one is not an official lyric video released by the artist but I love this fan-made lyric video for Copycat by Billie Eilish - I love how dynamic it is. This is, in my opinion, a perfect example of what a lyric video should be.

I also really love the Livin' Thing lyric video by Pale Moon, a band I saw live recently. I think an artist, especially if they are starting out, benefits from being featured on the video as the audience will start to recognise their faces and create a deeper connection with their project.

The Marshmello & Anne-Marie - FRIENDS video is simple but it works so well. Proof that you don't have to always over think things for them to be successful. The over 9M likes lets us know that!

Marshmello's lyric video for Here With Me Feat. CHVRCHES is a great example of how this was not only a successful lyric video but was used on the big screens at Ultra Miami.

The Kelly Clarkson - Christmas Isn't Canceled lyric video has an old Hollywood poster vibe to it and even made an appearance on The Today Show. I love videos that make it places that most videos are not usually seen.

Finally, CLiQ - Dance on the Table featuring Caitlyn Scarlett, Kida Kudz and Double S has fun, typography as its core.

The lyric video for Ookay - Bad Habits embraces the fun side of things and adding green screen with 2D is always a vibe.

Oriane Rondeau

I really love Still Woozy - Get Down (above). The concept is really simple but the video is so well executed. I love the way the lyrics are integrated within the landscape and the movement is so dynamic, I think that's a very cool video.

I also loved the lyric videos from Caroline Polachek's Pang album (below). The creative direction on the album is so good and I love the way they are telling a story throughout the album with these lyric videos booklet. It doesn't hurt that the visuals are stunning too!
