I'm Fred Tschepp and I tell stories. Mostly I tell stories with pictures, but I also tell stories with words, like this one I am telling you right now, about me.

I grew up making silly little sci-fi films with my neighbours on a VHS camera thier mum would borrow from a local community centre. It was a VHS camera because that was the technology at the time, not because it has become cool again. I fell further and deeper in love with film and animation during my teenage years. Like a lot of people I found those years quite sad. Films, anime, and fantasy books became my primary source of joy and I have been fascinated by the power of stories to change lives ever since.

Fast forward past two degrees in Film and Television studies, one being an MA in Cult Film and I had taught myself enough Premiere and After Effects to start getting small freelance jobs and teaching beginner workshops with the BFI. I spent a year living in Diamaguene, Dakar, Senegal, because I needed to get away from London in order to grow a bit more. I also took lots of pictures, and some people liked them quite a lot.

I returned to London, and freelancing, in 2014. I continued to develop as an editor and animator and have worked with BBC Studios for Top Gear and BBC Earth, and That Lot London for eBay, Amazon Prime Video, YouTube, HSBC, and Microsoft. I have also worked on projects for WPP, Logitech, Wimbledon, Ginsters, loads of startups and small businesses, a few think tanks and campaign groups, and the Green Party.

I have also, in the most recent years, finally started realising my ambitions to create music videos and short films that can be creative and experimental and fun or sad or tense in all the ways that client communications work just can't.

I make films because I have never lost the same fascination with storytelling that kept me going two decades ago. I love my craft, and I continue to practise it and grow with every project.
