Description 2

I have nine years' experience in digital design, having worked in–house at record labels and on campaigns for [PIAS], Play It Again Sam, Transgressive Records, Bella Union, Heavenly Recordings, DFA, Phantasy, ATO Records, Wichita and Different Recordings. I've also been lucky enough to work with some of my favourite artists, including Fever Ray, PLANNINGTOROCK, Röyksopp, Róisín MurphyJohn Grant, Florence And The Machine, Olof DreijerGhostpoet and more. I do digital design freelance and part–time with the rest of my time spent playing bass/songwriting/running social media for my band deep tan, just back from supporting Queens Of The Stone Age on their UK/EU arena tour.

My most recent projects include animating in 3d software Blender (see a recent social asset here) and in 2d, having been commissioned by Fever Ray and Rabid Records to create animated assets for their current album campaign Radical Romantics (examples in the I.Jordan remix here and here in the LSDXOXO remix). I've also recently been working closely with Olof Dreijer (formerly one half of The Knife) on all the visuals for his two recent EPs. For the most recent, Rosa Rugosa EP – out on Hessle Audio – I created a visualiser for each track: Rosa Rugosa, Camelia and Cassia. I isolated different aspects of the layered artwork, animating a digital warping effect with key–framed lumetri colour–scope to create bold, vibrant, pulsating landscapes. In the preceding EP, Souvenir feat. Mt Sims – out on Rabid Records – I also created an animated visualiser for each track (Hybrid Fruit, Across This Mud, Breaths Of Clay, A Vessel Of Clay, Liten Karin). I also recently directed and co–animated the video for deep tan's 'xenomorph queen' and co–directed and created the graphics for the video of Speedy Wunderground 7" 'tamu's yiffing refuge' (produced by Dan Carey) and the '21st June visualiser' for 'camelot', which DIY Magazine refer to as "VERY good", and "an unashamed tribute to the sesh”.

I also design merchandise and do band/artist branding; see some recent merch designs (all graphics by me) on deep tan's merch site.

My experience as a musician and designer means that I have an intuitive feel for creating digital assets/graphics and campaign ideas that are a natural extension of the music. In the past I've helped management teams when labels have suggested (and insisted on) digital initiatives that don't sit well with the artist, which can leave them feeling alienated and the project misunderstood. This gap can be bridged with another artist's awareness, experience, tasteful design and understanding of the message.

My design practise includes: creating and directing music videos, 2d and 3d animation and motion graphicsgraphic design (logos, bespoke imagery), the creation of advertising/marketing assets, cutdowns, Spotify canvases, GIFs, GIF Stickers for Instagram, the creation of AR Lenses for Instagram and Facebook using SparkAR, poster/flyer design (both print and digital), re–skinning artist platforms (like Bandcamp) with campaign-specific aesthetics/assets, making memes, Social Media/content planning/schedulingdigital marketing (setting up advertising campaigns across YouTube, Instagram, TikTok, Facebook), selected influencer marketing and more.

We've never lived in a time where it's been so important to get an artist's audiovisual presence right. I love to add value to interesting campaigns – let's talk.
