The C.V.

The idea for this track was to create a concept based music video for a new UK rap duo that would stand out against the rest. The outline was for both members to be attending an interview with a record label/talent scout. We wanted to keep the look formal, with a 90s vibe and with them rapping at the interviewers almost like in conversation. This was intercut with a scene in the bathroom where they rapped into the mirror more in their usual character/stage presence. We included a short intro of the guys in the waiting room with other applicants. Acting a little nervous, staring at the competition and practicing bars etc.

The main reference for this video was Spud’s interview in “Trainspotting”. We wanted to pay tribute to one of our favourite film scenes and replicated some of the framing used in the film, but at the same time we wanted to give it more of a fun feel similar to the classic Beastie Boys video from the 90s.

This video was all shot on Sony Alpha cameras - A7S2 and A7R2, using some supplemental lighting. We were lucky and managed to get access to an office in Central London that was half way through refurbishment.
