Kitchen
The idea for this video was to do a number of single takes of the whole song whilst the camera slowly tracks in from a wide to close up on Awk’s face as she performs the track.
Each take would be slightly different e.g. one with her singing in the kitchen surrounded by her friends, one with her on her own and some with choreographed dance moves. This was intercut with close ups of the people in the kitchen eating, drinking and smoking to match lyrical references. We also included an intro and outro with Awk’s mum leaving and arriving home making everyone scatter. As well as a short cut scene shot on Mini-DV of the moment in the track when she is outside smoking and joking with her friends.
Aside from the cutscene the whole video was shot on a Sony G Master 16-35mm lens on a Sony A7R2. It was all mounted on a Wally Dolly which we modified with a Syrp Genie to create a bespoke solution allowing precise control that enabled us to produce a tracking shot that was the exact length we needed to fit with the music in a limited and difficult space. We shot at night and used red, blues and purple gels to create a unique feel and shot in Awk’s actual kitchen.
