Varsity Jacket for Vandy The Pink

Vandy is a legend in underground streetwear culture. His brand draws on the sensibilities of those before him (A Bathing Ape, The Hundreds), and combines them into this pastiche of late-90s / early-00s design. When given a chance to work with him, I considered how I might fit into this carefully curated visual language.

His brand often features bootleg motifs. Building on his brand's visual identity, we created this jacket using bootleg versions of logos found on stickers on one of the characters' iconic bikes from the movie and manga Akira. 

The result is this racing-inspired varsity with references to Akira and biking brands, all while retaining VTP's signature identity.
