The Kill (Official Video)

Music video for latest single The Kill by Marta Vega.

Directed by Luke Shelley

CONCEPT: My direction for Marta Vega's track The Kill would lean into the darkness and edginess of the track. The tracks themes of toxic relationships, and the mental torture it can have on us as individuals, so I feel the video should have a solo artist focus, showcasing their emotion through performance and physicality. The track will be released in October, so I think the video should have a Halloween connection, my vision is to reference the story of Dracula and the three iconic moments from Stoker’s original novel; Transylvania, the journey at sea on the Demeter ship and his altercations with Lucy in London. I’d interpret these moments with three setups, the first will reference the gothic nature of Dracula’s castle, chandelier style backdrop with thick blood makeup. The second will reference the journey across the sea with reflective lighting effects as Marta performs, creating abstract water shapes. Finally, to reference Dracula’s attack on Lucy, we will use the bedroom set featuring Marta performing around the sleeping ‘victim’. I want to use a black-and-white aesthetic, with harsh noir shadows to evoke a vintage expressionist horror feel.
