The Malthusian Trap - Air Gets Thin (2019)
'Air Gets Thin' is a semi performative music video I made for The Malthusian Trap in 2019.
The band were keen to achieve an old school look in a modern day setting, but had no budget and only a day to shoot. I worked with archive material shot while the band on the road, touring and also employed my handy light leak archive and a couple of smoke bombs to add some interest. With no definitive idea to go on, we decided to shoot a contrast in landscape, picking two locations - the first being Dartmoor National Park, in Devon, UK which gave us a rural / countryside backdrop. We then moved to an industrial site, giving us the contrast being beauty and industry, linking location to the song's title "Air gets thin..."
