Arctic Monkeys 'Legacy'

For my Major Capstone Project I design this sleeve and campaign for Arctic Monkeys. I focused on creating a tactile experience with a 3D element, and as you open the gate fold, a 3D “AM” pops out of the centrefold. The artwork is inspired by the Arctic Monkey’s move towards a more futuristic sound, as well as their massive impact on the music industry. The concept uses imagery of gravity and the universe and the paper is embossed with a texture reminiscent of the surface of the moon. The insert sleeves are made from a champagne silver coloured paper that reflects the glisten of the stars.

I also designed a digital element that uses motion to adapt the type and imagery on the cover through AR. 

The main focus of my research and project was exploring the user experience when using vinyl or listening with streaming services. My conclusion is that the experience is best when using different layers of interaction - having the physical tactile cover, but linking that with the digital world through AR. This appeals to a Wye audience and bring a new dimension to interacting with music physically.
