Bess Hildick-Smith, known by her stage name as Bess Atwell, grew up in the English countryside, one of four children to an eclectic family of artists, songwriters and doctors.

Atwell’s former solo project evolved into a full band affair not long after the release of her debut album in 2016. The result; a dynamic live show, soaked in four-part vocal harmony, with traces of traditional folk music intertwined with indie-rock influences.

Both singles from Atwell's latest offering (the Big Blue EP) ‘Swimming Pool’ and ‘Grace’ were playlisted by BBC Radio 6 Music.

The songwriter is currently working on her sophomore record, due for release 2021.
