Straight8 Film

Straight 8 is a short film competition based in London and open to anyone in the world. The challenge — to make a short film on one cartridge of Super 8 with absolutely no editing and to see it for the first time together with the audience — at its Cannes Film Festival premiere.

The Straight 8 industry shootout pits 25 advertising agencies against each other, with the prize money going to a charity of the winning agency’s choice. I was the cinematographer for iris Amsterdam’s submission. On June 23rd, 2017 our film premiered along with the others at the Cannes Film Festival. Yes, it turned out. No, we didn’t win. Regardless, it was a crazy ride and one rewarding challenge.
