An illustration for Rendy Pandugo's single from his EP, "B.Y.L".

This artwork encompasses three elements based on the song: the wait, the vulnerability, the landscape

1. The wait: The song illustrates someone who’s in pain—as if waiting for a return no matter how much pain she has caused. Hence the element of day-night-day transition in the cityscape, and how the person still sits unmoved in the dining room throughout the song.

2. The vulnerability: The idea of being in a home without a roof emphasizes on his pain and vulnerability. Home is supposed to give you shelter and protection, but in this case, his home has lost that function. It is now exposing his most bare and vulnerable. I called this piece, “roofless on the roof”.

3. The landscape: I chose a cityscape because I think surrounded by city lights and noise can make you feel even lonelier. I was highly inspired by NYC. The funny thing is, when I was doing the sketch, I had been sleeping to the classic 101 Dalmatians for three nights straight. So subconsciously, at the end, the cityscape and color palette became a mix of Hell’s Kitchen and London.
