Alter Ego: Nicole Moudaber
When DJ and producer Nicole Moudaber isn't travelling the globe performing at some of the world’s greatest clubs and festivals, she spends her spare time driving racing cars – and it turns out that she's really, really good at it.
The Nigeria-born, London-based spinner has long held a passion for motorsports and she's now considering a stab at racing professionally.
"At seven-years-old, I was always keen to know about driving," she says. "I used to steal the keys and start my parents' car. One time, I even saved my family's lives. Dad got out of the car and forgot to set the handbrake. We started to roll down a hill, but I jumped to the front and stopped the car in time."
During a recent trip to Portugal, Moudaber returned to the historic Autódromo do Estoril, where she attempted to beat her previous driving record (her last attempt was only a few seconds off the world track record made during the 2015 European championship). Needless to say, she smashed it.
"My coach [Italian racing driver] Matteo Bobbi got me into racing cars," says Moudaber. "My next step is to actually race. I'm currently testing this incredible car, a Mercedes SLS-GT3 AMG."
As she develops her skills on the track, Moudaber's love of music has never diminished. In fact, she sees each passion as fuel for the other. "Both music and racing equally inspire me," she says. "My coaches were impressed with the level of concentration I have, it's similar to the level of concentration during my 11-hour DJ sets. I need to be very focused, I don't drink or do drugs. Cars and music are what keep me going."
