Wellington Zoo | Snow Leopard Fundraiser
At the end of 2022, Wellington Zoo will be receiving two female snow leopards (Asha and Manju) from Melbourne Zoo. Wellington Zoo is redeveloping the unused old sun bear exhibit to be suitable for the new arrivals, which will emulate their natural habitat and provide many opportunities for natural behaviours and physical exercise.
Wellington Zoo is a not-for-profit organisation and relies on public support and donations to help them build new exhibits, fund research efforts and ensure their animals receive the best of care. The zoo is currently fundraising for the snow leopard exhibit with tote bags, soft toys and community events.
I was asked to design concepts for a wooden pin/badge that could be sold as a fundraising item by the zoo. I developed dozens of sketches and presented them to the marketing team, who selected their preferred design. This was refined and enhanced towards the end of 2021, including the design of a matching backing card. The pins went on sale 16 March 2022.
As a lifelong fan and frequent visitor at Wellington Zoo, working on this project was a dream come true and I am excited to see Asha and Manju settle in to their new habitat.
