001// THE PROJECT

Fellow metalhead motion designer, Eddie Perez, contacted be about developing two looks he needed animated for his client Coheed & Cambria in anticipation of their 2019 Tour with Mastodon. Two contrasting city scenes were created for two tracks on the Coheed & Cambria 2019 tour. A bright utopia to accompany the soaring melodies of Pavillion, and a war torn city in flames for In Keeping Secrets

002// IN KEEPING SECRETS

Utilizing some modified kitbash3d buildings I built out few crumbling city sets and animated a few looping cameras and warships in the scene. I set up flickering lights and a compositing null where I wanted fire and effects to be added in post. With the help of Video Copilot Action Essentials 2, the cities were engulfed in flames and crumbling debris.

003// THE PAVILLION

This look was executed in a similar fashion. The kitbash Utopia set had the perfect optimistic and futuristic vibe. Bright lighting with flares and sweeping camera movement compliments the bright guitar and anthemic vocal melody.
