Small Talk - Single Cover

This cover was a collaborative effort between myself and photographer Kit Brown. The song that this cover was for featured a number of jazz elements, so we took inspiration from classic jazz record covers, such as Miles Davis' Kind of Blue. We had a studio session to have total control over the lighting, utilising the black drapes the covey a stage-like setting.

We hit upon the idea of projecting the text on to the drapes or the band's bodies, but that ended up being used for the promo images instead. I did however use a projector to achieve the look of the overlayed text. Simply putting the text on the image in my editing software looked far too crisp and perfect for the "vibe" of the design, so I projected the text and band logo onto a crumpled white shirt to give it some texture and rephotographed it. This was overlayed onto the photograph to produce the final design.
