‘Capital of Pain’ is the first project I ever initiated. It was during my course in Film Studies at King’s College London, a completely academic environment, that I decided to post a couple of ads around and see if I could get anybody to help me out with a script I wrote based on the poems of Paul Éluard. With no experience whatsoever in filmmaking or production, I gathered a team together. It was probably the experience from which I learned the most, as I made up steps as I went along with the project.

I got to meet incredible people, most of them I still work and collaborate with. With my little experience, I did not know anything about copyright law, so we are waiting until Paul Éluard’s poems are in public domain. This will happen in a couple of years time now. Then we will launch this project and send it to all the festivals. We are extremely excited about that!

‘Capital of Pain’ is a case study of my first couple of years in London. It is an autobiographic piece that explores what it is to live in the city, to work, and to make connections in such a busy and lonely city.
