A selection of covers and feature shoots for UK music magazine Rock Sound.

Shooting features for Rock Sound was a great learning curve and an exercise in balancing my ideas and ambitions for a shoot with the requirements of my client, both artistic and logistical. When I was working with the magazine they had a preference for the subject to be clearly visible in the photos and to be making eye contact with the camera. In some cases the art editor would also have something in mind for the layout in the magazine which influenced how the photos could be shot/composed.

In general our budgets were relatively small and time-wise we were often limited. There were occasions where we would shoot for 2 or 3 cover variations for the magazine in one 3hr slot. There are a number of shoots here where I would love to see where the ideas could have gone in a longer time slot.
