All The Young Dudes

Are You Experienced? is a series based on the style of Jimi Hendrix. The series aims to capture the experience most people have of Hendrix and the persona put on during concerts and public appearances compared to the experience many of his close friends have of the musician. The styling of the shoot looks towards Hendrix's love for velvet suits and Victorian and Edwardian shirts that filled thrift stores of 1960s London. The imagery looks to the work of Petra Niemeier and Roz Kelly for inspiration and the more intimate photographs captured during Hendrix's time off performing, showing the shy, polite homebody his friends and family knew rather than the wild man of rock that captured the attention of the world.
