Marie Davidson & L’Œil Nu - 'Renegade Breakdown' (Official Lyric Video)

Ninja Tune approached me to create this lyric video for the amazing Marie Davidson. The brief was quite open, hoping to use an old television to display lyrics from the track, but through conversations with the label and band, we arrived at something that added elements from the upcoming cover art also, resulting in a more personal video that tied into the lyricism of the song and Marie's personality.

I shot this at home using VHS cameras + analogue technology to remain faithful to the original brief, and invited the band to send phone video of themselves performing the song before transferring the footage to tape and playing on the 1970s Sony television set.
