Paul Minchinton - The Double Bass Master

Paul Minchinton is a top-quality session musician, specialising in the wonderfully huge and great thing to photograph, the double bass.

The images I shot here were actually done during a stage performance rehursal, so it was kind of nice being able to walk about and around Paul as he was playing which is not something that normall y can happen once a band is on stage.

Watching Paul play, his love for his chosen instrument is clear through the connect feeling the double bass and the concentration on his face, he really becomes immersed in his playing, it's a truly fantastic thing to see... if only you could hear photos!

The images had to reflect his passion for the double bass, Paul wanted his final favourite promo image to show movement and he particularly likes the artwork of Vaugh Oliver, so I have created a little element (ish) of the classic Vaugn within this, he REALLY loved it so much, he has asked me for a large print for his home.

Working with Paul was really great, he is such a quirky chap and we had a great time shooting these images.
