Star Stuff

Star Stuff explores the notion of connectivity in the cosmos, uniting the very large and the very small, through the building blocks of matter and the fundamental laws of nature.

Carr layers footage of the natural world to form depth, motion and structure, creating a moving digital collage of textures and patterns which intersect and overlap to form patterns of larger scale and complexity.

Star Stuff features clips shot in Iceland of snow falling on windows and ice floating on water. These clips have been manipulated to form spiral structures in motion, as well as symmetrical panels showing the accretion of matter. The resulting images are intendedto be reminiscent of biological forms in petri dishes, as well as inferring the mechanisms at play on a cosmological scale.
