Shake

2d animated music video.  This was 1 of 10 videos I created for LA-based artist Diamond Shake, who hired me to animate his entire album.  Shake speaks about anger, fear, and denial.  Our inspirations were Jan Svankmeijer, Edward Gorey, and horror films--I think is evident from the crosshatch drawing style, to the exaggerated, somewhat skeletal propotions and eerie feel to the whole thing.   The initial scene with the plants, checkered floor and man rising up out of teacup was based on a doodle I made one day while waiting around for a train, the image stuck with me and the project grew from there.  We explore themes of feeling inhuman, and swimming through dark and deep parts of ourselves.
