Stardust
A 16mm Music Video shot in Dartmoor, UK.
A lonely space traveller wanders isolated, natural landscapes searching for her lover.
We chose to shoot on the Bolex H16, an entirely mechanical camera built in 1965!
For many, a retired antique only to be marvelled for its historical use.
Admittedly, it was quite a challenge as you could never know for sure that the light was even hitting the film.
The irony of mechanically winding up the camera in-between every shot of what is essentially a sci-fi music video, was not lost on us.
Yet, we felt an overwhelming urge to call upon Nostalgia, to recreate the stark juxtaposition of the 60s style of filmmaking within the beautifully timeless aesthetics of Dartmoor, and the ethereal nature of the song and narrative.
It was an aesthetic and practical choice that I felt would simultaneously hold true to, and serve to highlight through juxtaposition, the beauty of the song.
The Earthly and the Celestial.
The Vintage and the Futuristic.
