Ladder Song

An entirely hand painted frame-by-frame animation, comprising over 1500 separate paintings.  This is one of my oldest animations, made when I was 17, but I thought it important to include in my portfolio as this type of animation, despite its laborious efforts, remains my passion.  This was not a comissioned project, simply a video I made out of love for the artist, my interpretation of a song that touched me at the time.  It's a relatively literal interpretation of the lyrics - at 17 I took things very literally - but 11 year later I'm surprised it feels pretty poignant.  There was inital storyboarding and keyframe planning - I started firstly painting the scenes  that I knew I wanted to include, and from there figuring out how to blend one scene into the next.
