During the start of 2020, the United States confronted many issues such as mass school shootings and risk of WW3, overall the U.S. met impending doom and uncertainty. Doom - A mini-zine is a project I designed to reflect on those experiences, tensions, and emotions with the help of recognizable WW2 graphics and vintage NRA that are familiar very many. By applying these images, I hope to suggest what the future may encounter by repeating the mistakes and deficiencies of the past. The zine opens with a transparency of a girl’s face in dread, followed by a skull inflicted by nuclear war. The early spreads of the zine reflect the school shootings, accompanied by the classic NRA picture of women enjoying their rifles. Midway through the zine, war becomes the next theme showing us past issues we face today. The zine uses die-cut techniques to further push the concept of nuclear war. At zine closes with a reiteration of the cover, except now the girl has her eyes closed and is crying because of the pain of her loss.
