Infrasound and the dynamical stratosphere

This PhD thesis of Pieter Smets is about weather prediction through the use of infrasound.

The cover design visualizes the interference of the sound waves used to predict the weather, as well as the air flow movements of the weather itself.

Pieter wanted the design to stand out in the grey mass of scientific publications, therefore we chose to use two fluo Pantone© colors, creating a third color by overprinting.

By receiving the book, you were invited to the defence of Pieter's thesis. Therefore the invitation was made part of the cover design and could be torn off to function as an easy-to-carry invite.

The main title typography is and altered version of Futura Extra Bold; All corners and connections were manually rid of their sharpness to slightly compensate the bright colors.
