Mega Man & Mega Man X (Singles)

Aaron Fairchild is a Portland based Hip Hop/ Electronic artist. Together we collaborated to create a cover for his "Mega Man" and "Mega Man X" singles. Each cover was turned around in less than a week, with little to no revisions being desired by Fairchild.

Both singles respond to Fairchild's battle with cancer. He survived, emerging stronger and more committed than ever but losing much of his youth in the process. Both songs stem from the same lyrics and original melodies but differ in their emotional content; each one relating to different sides of the same coin.

The images were created using a mix of glitch software and Photoshop with the original images being provided by Fairchild. This heavily glitched style fit the electronic roots of the music and also created good emotional tension with the lyrical content. I designed each cover to hold a strong feeling with color and be heavily abstracted without losing the original photos in the process.
