Seymour's Spooky Subway

Image
Captured by Seymour Licht

‘Halloween Underground’ is the culmination of twenty years of work by German photographer Seymour Licht capturing people dressed up in fantastical, outlandish costumes against the backdrop of the gritty New York subway — many captured are on their way to the famous Halloween parade in Greenwich Village or participating in the Mexican Day of the Dead.

“The subway is a liminal space, and Halloween is a liminal time.”

The new best-selling photobook ‘Halloween Underground: New York Subway Portraits’ is now available and marks the 50th anniversary of the Village Halloween Parade.
