Feelings of Ascension

Directed by The Reids

The Reids direct and Crowns & Owls creatively direct the first in a series of short films that visualise the making of James Blake’s sixth studio album, ‘Playing Robots Into Heaven’. Presented by Bowers & Wilkins and commissioned by Globe.

The film explores Blake’s process, modular experimentation, and origins of the album’s title with a second part to follow. 

To the right on the page, you will find the recent video for 'Big Hammer' that is mentioned in the documentary. The video was directed by Oscar Hudson through Pulse Films.

French director and photographer Thibaut Grevet directed the video for the album's lead single, which was released in August.

Music Videos from the Second Floor

Directed by rubberband.

Director duo rubberband. take us on a journey in their second music video collaboration with Bakar for 'I'm Done,' a track from Bakar's highly anticipated album, 'Halo.' Bakar and his band perform in a live performance style, but there's a twist – it takes place in a moving room navigating the streets of London.

In a statement from the directors, they reveal that the video pays homage to the renowned Swedish director Roy Andersson's 'You, The Living.' Andersson is celebrated for his unique filmmaking style, characterized by absurdist humor and poignant portrayals of human existence.

From Form is an independent creative studio for art, film, and design, led by Ashley Govers and Jurjen Versteeg who are a husband and wife team. In their most recent upload to Vimeo, From Form bring work from the past decade together in 50 seconds and featuring 371 sounds.

The duo are based in Rotterdam and working across short films, campaigns, commercials, film titles, graphic design, photography, and animation.

An Explosion of Life & Colour

Created by Ian Frederick.

Flora is an 3D animated short that tells the story of nature’s resilience and regeneration. The film’s design and animation was created by motion designer Ian Frederick using Houdini. Frederick used the project as a way of exploring liquid, smoke, and particle simulations, as well as heightfields, RBD destruction, debris sims and lots of procedural modeling and animation.

Synchronicity & Individuality

Directed by Ella Ezeike

‘Do My Thing' is Ella Ezeike’s lighthearted take and joyful dive into the intricacies of brotherly dynamics. The creative short was inspired by the director’s observations of her younger brothers, a relationship that she describes as characterised by both rivalry and an unshakable reliance on one another.

Ella Ezeike was recently interviewed by DAZED, who spoke to her about the complexity of Blackness, masculinity, and the obstacles she had to overcome while filming ‘Do My Thing'.
